Youth Olympic Village

The YOV will house over 5,000 athletes and team officials taking part in Singapore 2010, from 10 to 28 August 2010 for 18 days.

Located amidst lush greenery of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus, the YOV will provide athletes and officials with comfortable but not lavish accommodation and services. The quiet and serene environment will be conducive and safe for the athletes to rest and prepare for competition, and in their free time socialise and participate in specially-designed cultural and educational activities.

The YOV is divided into two zones: the Residential Zone (RZ) and the Village Square (VS). The RZ is further organised into five clusters for easy orientation. Ten (10) Residential Halls will each be serviced by a Resident Centre with a front desk and be well-supported by common facilities such as TV rooms, meeting rooms, wireless Internet hot-spot access, prayer rooms and shared medical spaces. Laundry services will also be provided.

In addition, the RZ will provide several training facilities for the athletes. It offers a dining hall, a Digital Media Centre including an Internet centre, a medical clinic, doping sample collection spaces as well as recreation activities. A shared services centre in the RZ will support the administrative needs of the NOCs, while the daily Chefs de Mission meeting will be conducted just adjacent to it.

The VS is at the heart of the Village. Apart from the World Culture Village exhibition featuring the history and cultures of all the participating NOCs, musical performances, concerts, cultural and educational programmes, chat with Champions, and various sport-related forums will be held there.

For the convenience of YOV residents, retail shops will be available at the VS. There will be a bank that provides services such as currency exchange, a general store, a post office and a ticketing office. To support the work of journalists, a Media Sub Centre will also be located in the VS.

The YOV will be a lively yet relaxed home away from home for residents such that they can concentrate on sporting excellence, learn to live in respect of one another, and bring back fond memories of valuable friendships formed during their stay in Singapore.
